Tortoise: All right.
Hare: Ready? Go!
(Mr Tortoise goes very slowly. Mr Hare runs much faster. In a minute he comes to a small tree.)
Hare: Where's Mr Tortoise? Aha! There he is. He's far behind me. How slow he is! I'm much faster. Mmm, it's hot! Ahh, here's a tree. Let me have a rest under it. It's so nice and cool.
(Soon he is asleep.)
(Mr Tortoise comes up. He looks at Mr Hare and goes on.)
Hare(waking up): Ah, what a good sleep! Now, where's Mr Tortoise? Where is he? I don't see him.(Runs to the tall tree.)
Tortoise(sitting under the tall tree): Why, hello, Mr Hare! How are you? You're very fast, aren't you?

Tortoise: But, I'm here first. Now who is faster, you or me?
Hare: Oh! …

2. The Crow and the Fox

A crow is sitting in a big tree. She has a big piece of meat in her mouth. "My babies will have a nice breakfast," she thinks.
An old fox is looking for his breakfast. He sees the crow and the meat. "How can I get that piece of meat?" he thinks.
"Goood morning, Mrs Crow," says the fox sweetly. "How are you?"
But the crow doesn't say a word.
"You have very nice babies, Mrs Crow," says the fox very sweetly. "How are they? May I see them?"
Still, the crow doesn't say a word.
"You're very beautiful, Mrs Crow. and you have a beautiful voice, too," says the fox very, very sweetly. "Will you please sing a song for me?"
Mrs Crow thinks, "How nice Mr Fox is! I must sing him a song." So she opens her mouth, "Caw! Caw!" Down drops the meat into the fox's mouth.
